1977 – John jumps to Pete’s defense in an article in New Musical Express responding to a previous article in which Jimmy Page had called Pete a “musical dictator”. Part of John’s response is used as the title for the article: “Led Zeppelin? – wish we’d never invented the name.”

2001 – The remastered soundtracks to Tommy, Quadrophenia, and The Kids Are Alright are re-issued on CD in the U.K. The Kids Are Alright soundtrack restores “Join Together/Roadrunner/My Generation Blues.” All come with deluxe packaging.
2001 – Sanctuary releases The Who Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970 on vinyl in the U.K
2001 – Pete, on his website, says he has spent the first six weeks of the year finishing piano pieces he had written between 1995-1999 for Scoop 3. He also says he has trawled through his old and recent stuff and has not found a single “perfect” Who song. Roger has supplied three songs that, while good, don’t “quite fit the current Who brief.”
