1966 – Mirabelle magazine features a photo of The Who on the back cover. The same day, Jackie magazine features a photo of them inside.
1967 – The Who play the RKO Radio Theater, New York, New York
1969 – The Who continue rehearsals for their new Tommy-centered show at Bickersteth Memorial Hall Grove Place off New End Hampstead in North West London.
1970 – The Who’s play “The Seeker” on Top Of The Pops, recorded on March 19.
1970 – The documentary movie Woodstock, featuring The Who’s performance of “See Me Feel Me,” premiers at the Trans-Lux Theater in New York and the Fox-Wilshire in Hollywood. The worldwide success of the movie again propels the Tommy album into the charts
1975 – ABC broadcasts a Wide World Special with interviews conducted on the 19th from the Tommy: The Movie premiere in Los Angeles
1975 – Tommy: The Movie has its European premier at the Leicester Square Theatre in London. All The Who are present as well as Ken Russell, Robert Stigwood, Elton John, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Lulu, David Essex, Rod Stewart and Britt Ekland. Capital Radio’s “Your Mother Wouldn’t Like It” broadcasts live from the theatre foyer.
Tommy programmes, mirrors, stickers, and T-shirts are on sale at select theatres
Robert Stigwood throws a post-premiere party at the Inn on the Park in tony Mayfair.
1980 – The Who play the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany
1986 – Roger is on the British television show Driving Force. Contestants drive a selection of tanks and rally cars race quarry trucks and fire engines complete a car parking poser and then a grand prix with forklift trucks. Roger and his partner Barry Sheene win.
1988 – Prefab Sprout’s album From Langley Park To Memphis hits the U.K. charts and peaks at #5. It features Pete playing acoustic guitar on the song “Hey Manhattan!” You can listen to it on youtube here
1996 – The John Entwistle Band play the Iron Horse Music Hall in North Hampton, Massachusetts
2003 – Roger, as part of his yearly Teenage Cancer Trust festival at the Royal Albert Hall in London, performs with an assembled band called TRUSS. It features Roger on acoustic guitar and vocals, Paul Weller, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Kelly Jones and Gem Archer. They perform “The Kids Are Alright” and “Magic Bus” among other songs.
2004 – H.E.A.R. releases the Who’s tribute CD Who’s Not Forgotten: FDR’s Tribute to The Who. You can listen to it on youtube here
2007 – The Who play the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
2009 – The Who play the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
