1964 – The High Numbers play the White Hart Hotel in Southall
1965 – The Who play the Richmond Athletic Association Grounds in Richmond, Surrey at “Ready, Steady, Richmond” – the first night of the Fifth National Jazz and Blues Festival. Also appearing were the Mike Cotton Sound, the Yardbirds and the Moody Blues. “Anyway Anyhow Anywhere” and “Shout and Shimmy” were later broadcast in the U.S. on Shindig! Goes To London
1965 – The Who appear live on Ready Steady Go!. Supposedly Roger doesn’t perform with them having been ordered not to by doctors for coming down with glandular fever.
1967 – The Who are in New York at Mirasound and Talentmasters Studio for the first of two days. Al Kooper joins The Who on organ to record two versions of “Mary Anne With The Shaky Hand.” One is released on the B-side of the U.S. “I Can See For Miles” while the other remains in the vaults until the 1995 edition of The Who Sell Out. Also recorded is a studio version of “Summertime Blues,” an organ overdub on “Relax” performed by Pete and new vocals to replace the guide vocals on “I Can See For Miles.” One song that hasn’t yet been released is “Bob Sings Soul,” featuring a lead vocal by Bobby Pridden.
1968 – The Who play the Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts
1971 – The Who play the third of four nights at the Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts. Labelle is the opening act
1980 – Billboard magazine carries a full page ad for the McVicar soundtrack album
1987 – Roger appears on Good Morning America for the second of two days to promoting his solo LP Can’t Wait To See The Movie.
1997 – The Who play the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre at the Waterfront in Camden, New Jersey
2000 – The Sunday Mirror reports that Robbie Williams is considering playing Keith Moon in Roger’s planned biopic of the late Who drummer
2002 – Eric Thompson releases his CD Manic + Organic featuring a cover of “I Can’t Explain”. You can listen to it on YouTube here
2004 – Tooga featuring Pit Bailey release a dance version of “Behind Blue Eyes.”. You can listen to it on YouTube here
2005 – Pete posts a new diary entry: “I had a good lunch last week with Roger Daltrey to discuss possible work in the coming six months. We’ve divided our hopes into two distinct areas: celebration of the past and the creative future. For the former we need to wait for Zak [Starkey] to finish his stint with Oasis. But even then, we’re not certain what kind of work we will do or where we will do it. For the latter we depend entirely on me and my tortuously slow creative process. We have agreed to reconvene next February.”
2007 – Uruguayan rock band El Testaferro de los pordioseros releases their CD Viven featuring a Spanish-language cover of “I Can’t Explain”
